Hi! Let us see about Syntax, semantics and timing in details. Syntax refers to the proper format in which the data is to be presented. If the syntax is not used, then after processing the data you will get an error called "syntax error". Semantics refers to the proper meaning of data that are to be used in the network. As we all know that the timing refers to the transfer of data between the two devices.

Protocols and standard
Hi friends! If we are interested in networks then we should be primarily strong in the backup of networks such as Protocols and standard. Protocol is nothing but a set of rules that are to be properly followed to get a proper transfer of data. We have to look at the protocol, if we want to communicate with another medium in the network.

Wide area networks
Wide area networks are called as WAN. Like the LAN connection WAN is also a connection which is having a very good familiarity. Long distance transmission of data, voice, image and the video information can be done only if their exists a WAN connection. With the help of WAN connection data can be transferred to long distance within a short span of time.

Metropolitan area network
Hi friends! Metropolitan area network is also called as MAN. Most of us are not familiar wit the Metropolitan area network. But it is ver impottant to know about it. With the help of this MAN you can connect the entire city. A company can act as a MAN. many LAN's can be connected or grouped to one with the help of MAN.

Local area network
Hi friends! Local are network is a privately owned network. All of us are using the same one. so i think no need to discuss more about the same. You can see this kind of connection at all the office, building or campus ranging few kilometers. You can share the resources via internet with the help of LAN. Point to point connection exists here.

Disadvantage of the topology
Behind a lot of advantages there are various disadvantages in the topological networks. Some of them are here. Always you need a lot of cables to arrange a topological netwoks. So traffic problem arises. Eventhough this is a very common problem, you should solve it at a primary stage itself. Because later it will produce a lot of problems. If maximum number of devices is added to the netwoks, then there will be a lot of tarffic congestion.

Ring topology in networks
One another kind of topology available is ring topology. in this kind of topology each and every device is connected by a dedicated point to point connection. This connection will form a ring type structure. this structure is very easy to install. You can add a device to the network at any time if the topology used by it is ring topology.

Bus topology in the networks
the second kind os topology is a Bus topology. This kind of topology uses a multipoint cabling method to make a connection between the nodes in the network. Differnt drop cables are used here. One long cable acts as a backbone. In the backbone all the other nodes are connected. If many drop cables are attached to a single backbone. Then the strength of it will gradually get reduced.

Star topology in networks
Star topology is on among the many available topological models. A star topology consists of number of devices connected to one another with the help of point to point links. It is very impotant to know that all the devices are not directly connected to each other. Here there will be centre system device which is called as root hub. From that all the connections are taken.

Topologies in networks
lot of topologies are now available. it is known that Topology is nothing but the way in which all the stations are physically connected to one another. Network topology refers the manner in which the system devices are connected to one another in the good manner. rather than mesh topolgy lot of topological models are now available. let us see about them in future.

Mesh topology in networks
Mesh topology in networks is very important and the old one that is used to connect the devices. Mesh topology always uses a point to point link between the two devices.

Network connection
Network connection is nothing but the connection between the two devices in the proper manner. The name of the connection between the two devices is technically called as link. The link can be classified into two types. They are point to point and then multipoint. In the point to point link there is only one connection between the two ends. Side links are not allowed here. In multidrop there will be lot of interconnections between the devices.
